Behold.... Christ the Lord

Throughout the year we go about our lives doing whatever it is that we do on a daily basis. For some it's school, others it's work, for others it's both, and for others it's full-time care for children and family. It's interesting to observe that during the Christmas season our demeanors seem to change just a little and we tend to be more kind to friends and foes. We give of ourselves to family, friends and strangers in an effort to show them that we care about them. We put forth a hand of forgiveness when we would normally turn our cheek with offense. We give out our spare change to the homeless when we would normally walk past them in disgust. We buy gifts for children who would normally not have any and we smile at strangers when we would normally avoid eye contact. For believers in Christ and non-believers alike, it is difficult not to acknowledge the tremendous impact that this global celebration has on our communities. For those who believe in the miraculous life and birth of Jesus Christ and those who don't, I would encourage you to ponder and appreciate the goodness that comes about in all of us this time of year. What a wonderful time to reflect upon the blessings we have. May the Lord bless you as you "do unto others as you would have them do unto you."

John Rogers, PTA - SLCC Graduate

Taking into consideration all of the pages read, tests taken, trips made to and from school, and countless hours of becoming a professional, The Rogers Royal Gazette is proud to announce that John Rogers has graduated from the Physical Therapist Assistant program at Salt Lake Community College after a very intense 16 months.

For the past several years John has enjoyed his occupation in the world of Cycling. He is currently working at Wasatch Touring, an outdoors shop located in downtown Salt Lake City that specializes in equipment for atheletes and outdoors lovers of all kinds. John has been a top consultant on cycling there for several years and has developed friendships and rapport with clients and colleagues that won't be forgotten. He has been fortunate enough to be able to work in a field that he has a great passion for. His natural ability to create friendships while helping others has given him the respect of many that will undoubtedly tranlate into his new occupation. For John, biking is not just something he talks about at work. He is an avid rider himself and has been for many years. He goes on or off road with his two-wheeled toys and loves every minute of it.

There's no doubt that it has been a challenge for him to stay disciplined at school and stick to the books rather than trek down the mountain trails that he's used to. Much like John's biking adventures he has blazed a trail of his own by becoming the first Physical Therapist Assistant in the family. While participating in the program John acted as Class President and provided encouragement, leadership, and friendship to his classmates that reciprocated a feeling of comroderee and appreciation towards him. As Class President John was able to conduct a large portion of the graduation ceremonies held at Salt Lake Community College on December 12, 2007.

Beginning in January John will begin working with University Healthcare at The University of Utah Orthopedic Center. He is excited to begin working in his new field as a Physical Therapist Assistant. Congratulations to John in his great accomplishment. A big thank you to his wife Tammy who has supported him and encouraged him through his long nights of studying and long days of school. Congratulations to the both of you and good luck to you Tammy as you continue your Trek through school to become a Registered Nurse.

News from Paul, Darla, and Megan!

It’s taken awhile to get this together, and I apologize to the editor. I procrastinated all of September, Because it seemed we didn’t have enough news to write about. Then I procrastinated all of October because it seemed we had too much! Anyways, Jeremy does such a G-R-E-A-T job with the Gazette—I hope we can all remember to thank him. That’s right! Don’t just read this and set it aside like you usually do. Show you appreciate all his hard work. E-mail him back before you turn off that computer. A little “Thank You” goes a long way.

It seems we’ve had lots of “Grandchildren Time” these past 2 months. In August Baylee and Taylor came to visit us a few days and we had such a good time. I can see that the circle of life continues as grandchildren help fill the “emptying nest.”

What did we do? They each earned a dollar by helping with chores, and they were really good helpers! We made cocoa lava kisses, drew on the driveway with side-walk-chalk—that’s Grandma and Grandpa Dillard in the picture. We read stories, looked at their photo albums, set up the tent in the playroom, where they slept, played, and watched “Home Alone.” Then they helped pick peaches off our tree and Baylee said, “Grama, I’ve never had a peach off a tree before!” On Friday we went shopping at the Dollar Store and then to the Dairy for ice cream. They’re great companions and friends!

We were also able to spend time with Tristan (who is a great soccer player), and sweet little Caydon and Boston.

Paul and Darla are continuing to work on food storage and family preparedness. They now have their 2-week supply of water on hand, and have completed their first aid kit. The 72 hour kits are “almost” finished. The freezer is full of fruits and vegetables, and the buckets are full of grains and beans.—They are even learning to cook with them.

This is a picture of Darla & her cousin Steve from California when he came to visit in August this year.

Before and After
After 3 years of visits to the Orthodontist, Meg finally has her braces off. We were in hopes of having the "before and after" pictures before going to press, but we will have to wait until the next edition.

Scholarship withdrawn!
BAD NEWS! Imagine Megan's horror when Salt Lake Community College called to say they were withdrawing her scholarship. That's right, they took it all away! They said that someone else needed it more then she did.

GOOD NEWS! Then they offered her a better one-tuition and student fees paid in full, and $750 for books. It's also renewable for a second year! Congratulations Megan! Your hard work has paid off again!

Message from Grandpa and Grandma Dillard
Grandpa and Grandma Dillard want to wish everyone "Happy Birthday," and also "Congratulations" to all the graduates!

Grandma has a new roommate named Marie, whom she dearly loves, and who has been an inspiration to her. They enjoy having their meals together and playing bingo with the other residents. Grandpa and other family members visit frequently. Grandma has even been to a few family get-togethers and out to lunch.

*Note from the editor: We would like to apologize to Darla. She typed all of this information is really cool fonts, and formatted it just perfectly, but with the new format of the Gazette we are unable to transfer her great work exactly how she created it. We are sorry for all the time she spent creating her masterpiece. We wish her to know how much we appreciate her sending us information, unlike most of the family! :)

Weber State Wild"Cat"

This past semester Catherine has been exploring the art of the human body. She has completed several pieces that exibit the human form in its most natural state. These new pieces have become yet another addition to her increasing set of skills and her exquisite portfolio. In the picture below, you can see some of Cat's artwork on display at Weber State University in Ogden, Utah. This is not the first time that Catherine has had her art on display at the University. She has become quite an accomplished artist. If you would like to see Catherine's recent work up close and personal please email her at lebadkitty@yahoo.com .

Go Utes!

As many Utah residents know, BYU played the University of Utah in a recent football game. Unfortunately BYU won the game but, as you can see, we still support our school. Go Utes!

Scared & Confused

It was the first Halloween for Caydon & Boston. By the looks on their faces it seems that they were both a little confused as to why they were dressed up. I guess that we can explain it to them when they're a little bit older. Other than their alarming first reactions to Halloween, I think that they had a good time.

Gypsie Jenn & Pea-Pod Caydon

Gypsie Jenn makes her appearance at the family party after arriving fashionably late. As pictured, she's got a hold of Caydon the Pea-Pod. He was so cute in his little costume. Caydon wanted to give a special shout-out to his parents Brett & Brian who are pictured in the background of this photo. He just wanted to say "Thanks for dressing me up like a vegetable so I can be an inspiration to all the little childrens all over the world to eat their vegetables."

Dino & Dad

Little Tristen dressed up as a dinosaur for Halloween. The poor little guy had been sick so he didn't get to play much with his younger cousins. David got to celebrate his birthday with the whole family. I think that he's the only Rogers child that gets a birthday greeting from everyone. Maybe it's not so bad having a birthday on a major holiday.

Cowgirl Baylee & Skater Dude Taylor

It was lots of fun to see Baylee & Taylor at the Halloween Bash. Baylee looked so cute in her Cowgirl costume and Taylor looked so cool in his Skater costume. Besides coming for the party, Taylor & Baylee got to go trick or treating around David & Lily's neighborhood. They brought back enough candy to share with everyone but of course they kept it for themselves. That's what Halloween's for!

Halloween Bash 2007

Halloween at David and Lily's house was fabulous as usual. All of us were surprised to see Mark Rogers who flew in from Texas to celebrate the holiday and coinsidently, David's birthday. The food was good and the company was too. David & Lily's garage was decked out as usual with ghosts and witches hanging around. It was really fun to get to catch up with everyone and enjoy each other's company. For the record, it was the first time that all eleven of the Rogers children were together since...... well, I don't know. Since the last time we got together.

Bubble gum stuck to the bottom of a shoe...

For some, it took a few questions to figure out what Tammy was for Halloween. Questions like "Why is there a shoe on your head?" Another question was "Why are you wearing so much pink?" After putting two and two together, those who didn't get it at first realized that she was indeed bubble gum stuck to the bottom of a shoe. It was definitely the most creative costume at the party.

For those who didn't get the scoop on Tammy's costume I think that it's good to mention that she got the shoe from a friend and had to use some serious glue to get it to stick to her beanie. It was cool!

The Incredible Hulk

John dressed up as the Incredible Hulk. He spent most of the night chasing Taylor, Baylee, and Tristen around the yard while grunting the words "Me Hulk."

We're Pirates who don't do anything..... we just sit around and don't do anything! Rrrrrr.....

Jeremy & Camille dressed like Pirates for the Halloween Bash. After raiding the local Deseret Industries and Savers stores they went to work to put together their ravishing costumes. Baby Boston got to be a cow this year because his costume was on sale long before Halloween this year. All three of them had fun at the family party. "We Rrrrr.... glad that we have such a great family!"
