Jenn's RAGNAR Race

A couple of weeks ago I did the Ragnar Relay and it was Awesome!!! For those that don’t know what this is, it’s a relay race that starts in Logan and ends in Park City. You have a totally of twelve people on your team and the goal is to run the 188.2 miles in as close to 24 hrs as possible. As an individual you have three different legs to run in the 24 hr time span which may not sound too difficult to some but when you are going off of little or no sleep it can be really difficult! I received only 4 hrs of sleep the night before the race which by the way is not suggested!!

My first leg was 6.7 miles at 11:00 am Friday morning and classified as Hard! Can I just tell you that I rocked it!!! Best run of my life!!! Second run was just 3 miles at 7:00 pm that night which I did really well also! Then here came the best part…….. my knee started to freeze up and I could barely walk and I’m not going to lie, it kinda freaked me out!! We “slept” outside on the grass under the stars which was beautiful (but soooo cold) while waiting to do our last leg. Then the last leg started at 5:00 am and luckily I remembered that I brought a knee brace with me. I ran/walked my 3.3 miles and was so excited to be done!!!

To all of you this may sound like a horrible thing to do and let alone pay to do but can I just tell you that it was one of the funnest things that I have ever done!!! It is absolutely insane and you learn to push your body to the edge! Despite wanting to cut my leg off it was so much fun and I can’t wait to do another one!!! Oh, and the best news was that out of 658 teams in the mixed (coed) categories we got 34th place with is pretty dang good! I must say that I think I have a new addiction, Races!!!

Here are some of the pictures from my adventures before, during and after the race:

FYI: The video is just a glimpse into how much fun we had!
