Jenn, Ashlea, Lily, and Camille all enjoyed their first cake decorating class taught by Darla. This introductory class was all about the frosting. No cakes included. They practiced and practiced different techniques of icing a cake.
They all concentrated hard despite the loud noises coming from the plumbing guy. Lily seemed to have a natural hand at this frosting cakes stuff, while Ashlea was already pretty experienced. Jenn and Camille... I think they were surprised at how much work frosting a cake is! In the end, I think they all enjoyed spending time together and eating lots of frosting. THANKS DARLA!
On Mother's Day the whole gang of us Rogers kids (minus a few) gathered together to wish Mom well on her special day. Thankfully pictures are worth a thousand words so I'll only tell the short story. John had an idea to get Mom a bike for Mother's Day. He called around and got the rest of us on board while also making sure that Mom was really going to want a bike. We picked up the bike and sent it to John for a quick fix, polish, and shine. From there, John picked up a lock and the flashy helmet seen below and from there Mom was ready to goooooooooo!
Once almost everyone was gathered in the livingroom at Mom's & Dad's house we distracted Mom out of the front room while we snuck in the bike. When we brought her back in we shouted "Happy Mother's Day" and pointed to the bike. That's when the tears of joy began flowing down her cheeks. Amidst the tears she said, "I just have the best family" and "This is the best Mother's Day I've ever had." From the smile on her face in the picture above you can tell how happy she was.
Besides the neat pictures of Mom and her new bike she wanted us to post a picture of all of the cars that are parked at their house every holiday. How fun!
DARLA WOULD LIKE TO SAY "THANK YOU" AGAIN, TO ALL THOSE WHO CONTRIBUTED TO THE "MOTHER'S DAY BICYCLE". IT'S BEEN SO MUCH FUN. SHE DECIDED TO PLAY IT SAFE BY RIDING AROUND THE BACK YARD FIRST -- JUST IN CASE SHE FELL. THEN SHE VENTURED OUT INTO THE STREET, JUST IN FRONT OF THE HOUSE. NEXT TIME SHE'LL GO AROUND THE BLOCK. THE ONLY PROBLEM SHE'S HAD SO FAR IS REMEMBERING THAT THE BREAKS ARE ON THE HANDLE BARS!!!
THANK YOU, TOO, FOR ALL THE SWEET CARDS, FLOWERS AND TREATS. MOST OF ALL, FOR COMING. I LOVE YOU ALL.
Can you guess who it is?
Pictures BEFORE the haircut
So I took Meg to go get her first High-end hair cut on monday. She donated atleast 12 inches and was freaking out the whole time. She was so freaked out that when the hairdresser told her that she's going to have to get some cute head-bands Megan's response was "Why, Did you cut a chunk of my hair out? The hairdresser started laughing and thought Megan was joking. She then figured out that Megan was not joking. The hairdresser replied, "For your dance classes!" It was so funny.
She loves her new mature haircut!!! Mom said " Great now she's going to be getting more calls for dates." Lets just say that Megan gets so many phone calls for dates that she has to tell them "let me go get my calendar". She has turned into a dating machine. I guess it's ok as long as she doesnt get married within the next five years.
